The Buddha sculpture holds both hands at chest level. The index finger and thumb of each hand form a circle, the fingertips of the left hand touch the right palm: This hand posture is called: Setting the wheel of teaching in motion (Dharmacakra mudra). Originally, figures with this hand posture were seated in the Indian pose, later it was changed to use this hand posture only for figures in the European seated posture. Very rarely also for standing figures.
