Dewi Sri is considered to be an important fertility goddess especially on Bali and Java. She regulates all life, directs above all in her function as the goddess of the moon the flourishing of the food that grows on the earth and determines the death that makes plants, animals and humans return to their bosom. Thus it also commands over the underworld and the other world. Above all, however, it provides food for the people and thus ensures their survival. Since rice is the main food of this region, Dewi Sri is above all the venerated rice goddess. She is portrayed as a goddess of unusual beauty. She is always portrayed as youthful, supple and slender.

Here the hand posture of the goddess symbolizes the "turning of the wheel", this hand posture is called: setting the wheel of the teaching in motion (Dharmachakra mudra). It was made of river stone, a stone similar to granite. This stone is harder than the basanite stone commonly used in our country and can therefore be worked in greater detail and with greater precision. Only few artists have the skills to turn this stone into a highlight.
